Mirror Demisters

(5)

It is no longer necessary for you to put up with steamy mirrors and the inconvenience of waiting for the mirror to defog. If you want to avoid ever having to worry about misty mirrors again, all you have to do is attach a mirror demister to the back of your mirror. Because we offer such a wide variety of sizes and have the ability to combine sizes, we can provide you with a demista pad that is proportionate to any size mirror you may have.

Mirrors have a propensity to fog up after being exposed to steam from a steamy bath or shower, which means that you will need to wait for the fog to dissipate before you can use the mirror. You won't have to sit around and wait for the condensation to evaporate off of your harmoni demister pad any longer. Mirror demisters from Heater Shops are an excellent solution because they convert a conventional mirror into a heated mirror, thereby preventing condensation from forming on the glass surface of the mirror. Because they are available in such a wide variety of forms and dimensions, it is possible to use them with any kind of mirror. They are easy to install, and because they stick to the back of the mirror, they are hidden from view. This makes them very convenient. Demister pads are manufactured in the United Kingdom to the highest standards possible and are subjected to a series of stringent quality assurance tests by Demista before being shipped out to customers.

What is a Demista Pad?

It is a self-adhesive heating pad that is extremely thin and can fit inconspicuously behind virtually any mirror, thereby preventing any mist from accumulating on the mirror. The Demister heated mirror demista pad exemplifies the most cutting-edge technological standards available today, providing an exceptionally high degree of temperature stability along with complete resistance to moisture, vibration, shock, dust, and the effects of ageing.

Mirror Demister Pad Sizes

There are over 40 different sizes of demista pads available for purchase, with the smallest one measuring only 150 millimetres by 274 millimetres. The largest size that we currently have in stock is 700mm x 1970mm; however, you can cover larger mirrors by using multiple mirror demisters. Each demisting pad for the mirror offers a consistent heat distribution, which enables the mirror to heat up and stops fog from forming on its surface.

Our Range

There are two different voltage options available for demister pads: 230V and 12v. A transformer is necessary for the safe and efficient operation of a model that operates on 12 volts. We keep a large quantity in stock, with over 30 distinct sizes available for the 230v pads and 9 distinct size options available for the 12V pads. On the other hand, if you have a specific need, we can make an even larger quantity available to you. These are available in widths of 150 millimetres, 200 millimetres, 300 millimetres, 400 millimetres, 500 millimetres, 600 millimetres, and 700 millimetres. There are over 30 distinct length options available for each width variation that can be chosen from. Pads can be purchased singly, and 12V models can be obtained singly or in kits that include both transformers and pads. Every order comes with a heating pad, instructions for how to properly fit it, and a warranty that lasts ten years.

Demista Pad Installation

Important Notes:

  • In order to ensure compliance with the most recent wiring regulations, all electrical connections must be made by a licenced electrician.
  • To ensure full compliance with the IEE Wiring regulations – Eighteenth edition (BS7671:2018) or any other national wiring regulations that may be applicable, any and all metal components that surround the mirror, such as the frame, must be earthed.
  • Due to the potential for a minor capacitance effect, it is necessary to earth mirrors that are constructed with a conductive foil backing or a metallic covering.

It is simple to set up a mirror heat pad purchased from Heater Shop. Each pad is flat, and the backing is made of a self-adhesive material, so all you have to do to attach it to the mirror is peel off the backing and stick it on. It is recommended that the pad be connected to the lighting circuit so that it can be activated when the light is turned on. Alternatively, it can be connected to a separate switch if that is more convenient. Both an MCB with a 6A rating and an RCD are required to be used to protect the circuit. An all-pole disconnection is required to be incorporated into the wiring leading up to the pad.

Wiring should be done in parallel for any multiple pads that are attached to a single mirror. It is essential to take precautions in order to guarantee that the available power supply can support the load. It is imperative that the pads do not touch one another as this can result in hotspots and possibly even damage to the mirror. The heating pad comes with a length of double-insulated cable measuring 1 metre in length and 0.75 millimetres in diameter. In general, this cannot be lengthened because there are variable factors that could increase the cable's rating and make the installation unsafe. This would prevent the cable from being lengthened. In accordance with the best practises that are currently available, if a longer lead is required, a heavier duty cable (also known as lighting cable) can be connected through an approved junction box, which ought to be inaccessible.

To install the pad, you will need the following:

  • Tape measure drawing pad and pencil
  • Cable strippers and screwdriver
  • Resistance tester (multimeter)

Any electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician to comply with current wiring regulations.

Demista products should be connected to the lighting circuit so that it is activated when the light is switched on, or to a separate switch if preferred. The circuit must be protected by a 5 amp fuse or circuit breaker at the distribution board. The wiring to Demista products must incorporate an all pole disconnection.

All Demista mirror pads come with a detailed installation guide.

Not only do we offer a large range of different Demista sizes to suit your needs, but you can use multiple pads on any mirror too.

(Please Note: Several Pads fitted to a single mirror should be wired in parallel. Care must be taken to ensure that the power supply is sufficient to take the load. Pads must not overlap as this could cause hotspots and possible damage to the mirror.)

The Demista pad is a simple efficient, ultra slim heating pad which fits inconspicuously behind most bathroom mirrors - existing or newly installed. Once fitted, the mirror will never steam up in and around the area of the pad.
